I don’t know, but maybe someone was feeding these Miracle-Gro. Some incredible wildflowers sitting next to another one of the Rocky Mountains’ special alpine lakes.

Spring colors start to pop in the south side of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains as morning fog rolls in and out. A large bit of snow clings on as a waterfall gushes below.

If everything and everyone is connected then even the smallest acts of kindness can have impossibly large impacts.

Fascinating, Gripping, & Intoxicating

The San Juan Mountains of Colorado are a land of pure magic with soaring peaks, where waterfalls drop from the heavens to meet the icy lips of ridiculously blue alpine lakes, and where the melting glaciers of winter turn into the wildflowers of summer. And don't get me started on the aspen groves and colors that grace the hillsides during the fall. This is my preferred playground in the Rocky Mountains.

It was almost like clockwork. Rain overnight. Fog rolls in during sunrise. Sun peaks out and starts burning off the fog. Springtime in the Rockies doesn’t disappoint. The new aspen leaves don’t either.

The early bird gets the worm. The early worm gets the bird. Everyone has a different perspective. Which is right? Which is wrong? Neither.

There’s something about shooting a waterfall with melting patches of snow that resonates with me. Wake me up when it’s springtime in the Rockies.

Icebergs aplenty litter the lake in late July. Makes for an interesting swim. Maybe we can start shipping the polar bears and walruses over here.

Ice water is a necessity whilst hiking around the Rocky Mountains. A water break one day turned into a photo op the next morning.

Winter in Summer. Spring into Fall.

Backpacking deep into Colorado’s breathtaking San Juan Mountains, allows for plentiful treats. One being watching wildflowers wake up.

Perfect Timing

As I walked along the River Trail in the town of Telluride early one morning, I came across a bench with a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson. It read: “This time like all times is a very good time if we but know what to do with it.” It was a good time in my life to read this.

An incoming storm approaches from up high in the Rockies. I wait for the wind to stop blowing the wildflowers in front of me until the wind turns to rain. The rain to thunder and lightning. Pack it up.

Sometimes you gotta get a leg up on an iceberg. A pretty sunset warms my heart while my toes freeze off in just another one of those crazy blue alpine lakes sitting deep in the San Juan Mountains.
